5 things for the weekend 22.29
going on holiday, free font, booker longlist, feta and spinach, new journals in shop
Around here August means family holiday time, and we are taking off bright and early on August first to spend three weeks in Spain. We can’t wait! Our last visit was in 2017, and we’ve always wanted to visit again. International travel was off the list for us this year, so we jumped at the chance to revisit Andalusia.
While away these weekly letters will be on pause, but I invite you to follow me on Instagram to see what we get up to! I still plan to do #tenonthe10th, and I will be dipping into Susannah Conway’s August Break Challenge when the spirit moves me. As part of continuing my daily journaling I will also be checking out A Journal Mood.
See you in a few weeks!
5 Things
1. So excited and proud to see this recent Google Doodle about the history of Steel Pan from Trinidad. I went to University there, so consider it one of my island homes!
2. Ricotta, and feta rolled into “dumplings” with spinach, and a savoury mushroom broth? Yes, please! I think this would make an excellent starter for a sit-down dinner with friends.
3. Loving this free Lemon bird font from Ian Barnard.
4. Do you read award winning books? Award longlists, shortlists, and winners are some of the places I look for new reads. I’ve already added a few from the 2022 Booker Longlist to my TBR.
5. Learn about the creative process of Helen Lund Den Boer, a portrait and textile artist, and take a tour of her creative space.
Is this you too?
What are you DoING?
I am:
Reading: The Love Songs of W.E.B DeBois
Listening: Songs from Scandal: Music for Gladiators
Watching: Peaky Blinders
Making: Satawal Tee
Loving: today’s summer rain
and you?
News from the Callaloo Collective
There are two new journals in the shop for creative minds.
First, the easy to use Morning Mindset Journal & Coloring Book, which will help you to develop a daily journaling practice in 30 days, by combining guided prompts, free journaling, and a coloring page. Think of it as your daily journaling cure!
Second, for makers of all kinds, Make, Do & Mend: a new project planner and tracking notebook with an index, and one page layouts, to keep on top of all your projects.
“These are the incongruities of memory. It is hard to hold on to the entirety of something, but pieces may be held up to light.” - Honorée Fanonne Jeffers, The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois
