5 things for the weekend 22.26
summer reading, new office wear trends, #tenonthe10th, book club meeting, spicy grilled pork
While my reading pace has slowed compared to June, I am still reading voraciously. I decided to select my TBR for the month based on book club and review commitments, as well as books I have wanted to read. On my list are:
She Would be King by Wayétu Moore
State of Wonder by Ann Patchett
Sugar in the Blood by Andrea Stuart
The Love Songs of W.E.B. Dubois by Honorée Fanonne Jeffers
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Normal People by Sally Rooney

5 Things
1. Get crafty with the kids outdoors with these nine ideas for chalk art.
2. France’s National Holiday (known in English as Bastille Day), is coming up next week, and we will be barbecuing, so this Korean-Style Spicy grilled Pork is definitely going on the menu.
3. In celebration of Alice in Wonderland Day (July 4th), the Women’s prize for Fiction curated a list of fantastical reads. Have you read any?
4. How the pandemic influenced what we wear to the office these days.
5. We’re in stone fruit season now, and my favourite has to be peaches. If you have a bunch you might want to learn how to ripen them for use. Plus get some recipes for using them once ripened.
What are you DoING?
I am:
Reading: She Would Be King
Listening: Under the Whispering Door
Watching: Brooklyn NineNine
Making: holiday capsule wardrobe

Hope is a horrible thing, you know. I don’t know who decided to package hope as a virtue because it’s not. It’s a plague. Hope is like walking around with a fishhook in your mouth and somebody just keeps pulling it and pulling it. - Ann Patchett, State of Wonder
